Where to buy a 3D printer?

Where to buy a 3D printer?

There are a few links in the notes for the community. First step is to decide how much you are willing to pay. Second is to decide how big of a volume you need (mostly the bigger volumes are either more expensive or worse quality). Then you can start asking people, but last I checked there were more then 200 different machine’s with different sellers.

To put this I perspective it is like asking where do I get food.

Haha okay thanks Camerin!

Depends on which one you want. If its your first you might want to look into something like a Printrbot Jr. It can come preassembled. I have the simple and lovd it but the print area could be bigger

Are there any promotions at trade fairs?

Don’t buy, build a RepRap.

Repraps arent the best for a first 3d printer.

@Griffin_Paquette Repraps are great for a first 3D printer. You just have to be the right type of person. My first printer was completely self-sourced, completely self-printed, using a machine that was on loan to me because it didn’t work (and I was allowed to print things if I fixed it)

Decide you budget, nothing matters until you define a max budget. after that decide what you want in quality/ tinkering/ modability/ consistance/ size. Nothing should be taken off the table until you prioritize. Repraps can be a good choice if you are willing to tinker, and want to be able to hack the thing to expand functionality. Getting a printer is a very much individual choice. some things that you would be happy with, i may be disappointed by. If there were one best way, then there wouldn’t be 200+ printers/companies.

@ThantiK I completely agree. Like you said, it all depends on who it is. I wanred to get printing and understand how 3d printing fully works. If you are confident in your ability rhe definitely go with a reprapas you can get way more for the money if built right.
