While the suggestion to dry overly wet nylon filament in a 200 degree Fahrenheit

While the suggestion to dry overly wet nylon filament in a 200 degree Fahrenheit oven is a good one in that it helps speed drying, it’s important to consider spool materials as well…

Whatever the black one pound ones are made of is not a fan of much heat at all.

It probably got hotter than that in that area. Ovens are not built for that kind of precise temperature regulation at such low temperatures.

That could be. I had it set on “warm - 200” in the hopes that would be less aggressive about heating, but I have a feeling it overshot the mark a fair bit just the same.

The whole spool was sitting on a wire rack on top of a low edged sheet pan, and the part that curled was the part that was not sitting on the wire rack. The whole spool was pretty pliable when I pulled it out, and too hot to touch for more than a second, so it was probably just over 100c.
