Who else is putting effort into his electronics-compartment? Show me your cable-porn!
You just gave me a great idea…convert my server rack from a 42U rack holding 3 servers to a gigantic 3D printer stuffed full of gear!!!
I’ve been shrink-wrapping my cables and zip-tying them to the frame. Much better than my first printer, which I’m trying to clean up as well…
+Peter van der Walt That is an UPS. It is the PiUPS+, so the UPS and the Pi can be sourced by 24V directly. Further, it is configured in a way, that I can just cut the power and the Pi is then automatically shutting down. Additional, it is going to run the hotendfan for about 75 seconds, if a powerloss occured while printing.
@Rene_Jurack , after those pictures I’m surprised if anyone dares to post theirs.
is a larger and thus more quiet fan possible?
I’m more curious to find out more about that printer! Looks great what is it?
@Marcus_Wolschon Nope. That’s the maximum size to fit. In the normal version (speak: not transparent and aluminium enclosure) the drivers are attached to the sidewall and are cooled passive. The acrylic-version is just for show purpose. I am talking about this printer at fabcon, germany, in june and this version is to show the inner parts…
@Brad_Hill If you don’t know the DICE yet, just visit http://www.well-engineered.net, there is much more information about it
This reminds me of the PC modding scene which took off once everyone got bored trying to build ever more insanely powerful machines only to find that the next morning their behemoth was a lawnmower. Really nice job, sets the bar for everyone else.
I did a bit on one of my printers
