Why does Frys electronics sell one of the lowest rated 3d printers?

Why does Frys electronics sell one of the lowest rated 3d printers? I feel like they are missing an opportunity to be a hub for brick and mortar 3d printing supplies.

Which one are you talking about?

Probably because most 3D printer manufacturers use “just in time” manufacturing and order fulfillment.

@denix the robo 3d

@John_Ecker_GeoDroidJ not really sure how you come to that conclusion. Robo3D is quite good, have a large customer base, many happy users, myself included…

@denix Make: Mag Ratings.

Maybe it’s not a bad printer but people are just expecting more for $800?

@John_Ecker_GeoDroidJ hmm? I don’t see Make:zine having ratings for R2/C2… What they ever reviewed was R1 with some minor upgrades. And R1 is 5 years old - I backed it up on KS at the end of 2012. Moreover, the issue Make:zine had with R1 is lacking fan shroud.

BTW, according to http://all3dp.com R2 wins “Best Plug&Play 3D Printer” title in their latest “20 Best 3D Printers of Fall 2017”:
Best 3D Printers 2021 (April) | All3DP

Moreover, 3D Hubs rates the original R1 at 8.2/10 on par with Ultimakers, Printrbots, Prusas, etc.:

So, in summary, don’t believe a single review and do your own homework!

@Kevin_Danger_Powers R1+ is long in the tooth, sure, but they dropped its price to $399:

Well, at least its not a chinnese knock off like The one i saw at sams club, it was all acrilic and poorly made parts, it was clone of a clone!

@lightshadown like the Anet A8?

Looks like expensive crap😆
Monoprice for 299.00, same printer on the left basically. What a rip!
