Throwing away thousands of production parts is one sign of a lack of process in their product life cycle.
I suggest they read up on Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
They should also make sure they have validated proto, engineering validation, development validation, and production validation test builds before starting MP.
These systems may seem burdensome, slow, and dull to young engineers, but they help insure against destroying your company, or at least having an expensive set back, when your luck runs out.
But that’s all boring when they can play “Business”!
