Why it’s a bad idea to make printers out of acrylic… Rapman literally fell to pieces after 5 years. (Thats ignoring the pieces I broke when assembling it!)

Solidoodle acrylic extruder frames break in the first few months.. I print replacement alternative extruders immediately.

Just don’t make it out of that nylon crap that rounds off corners rather quickly

Acrylic is okay, but it needs to be cut with router. Laser cutting will do this to acrylic. And never use extruded plates, only poured are good for mechanical stuff.

@Joe Kremer going to try Brook’s aluminum extruder (Printrbot) - on the way.

5 years, that’s a good track record.

I guess the printer lasted longer than the company that designed it :slight_smile:

It still exists, it was just purchased a long time ago. Not the first 3d printer company to have this happen.
