Wireprinting d263.2|17

Wireprinting is when a mesh on the surface is created. As you now have the full diameter extruded round and not flatten in layer - you get a nice transparent extrusion. I used 2mm (was 5) and 15mm/s (was 5). All 3 Objects have the same geometry and material (PET) in case you wonder.
WP is an experimental option within Cura.

nice

A good post

Wire Printing should look a little more like this once tuned in a bit better.

@ThantiK try my model which is only 45mm high and has a cross section of two 10×3mm beams. And why did the triangles look that shitty with your tuned settings? But you are right that this was my first try with WP and as Cura got unpredictable changes with every update i don’t waste my time here.

Not my picture - just an example. I haven’t been able to find anyone who has gotten Cura’s wire printing to NOT look shitty.

Modifying the model so that the vertices are done correctly is apparently a huge help. Someone who models in blender or a direct STL editing program (or decimates the model) would likely get a better result.

Yes I just checked the GCode and this can’t work - the Mesh is not symetrical, also there is no synchronisation between layers - You would need to change the mesh size according to the circumference. Beside you can’t control larger chunks of molten plastic. For that i have to admit the picture shows a really good result despite i consider this useless if used as designed - but i think i found something… look out for my next post!
