Discovered my issue. To any who are using these targets and plan to use the AppleMidi Lib found here https://github.com/lathoub/Arduino-AppleMidi-Library
In the AppleMIDI.hpp header the author uses an analog input to source a seed to generate a random number.
srand(analogRead(0));
It fails on the Zero … I’ve yet to evaluate if its a bad pin reference …
