Wondering if something like this could not replace the printerbot sandpaper drums.
The idea is that this would fit on the step motor shaft and you would attach a fishing line to a side through the first hole and an other fishing line to the other side through the second hole.
In the picture I did not make it a cylinder but it should be one. What do you guys think ?

sandpaper drums? my printrbot uses rubber tubing, but I’ve got the cheapest one.
the image description already says it should be a cylinder. I think the main idea here is the through-holes for maximum grip, instead of a bunch of wraps.
however, I think a bigger problem is that there would be significant (multiple mm) of backlash at the point where both lines are slack, in the middle.
+Sparr Risher my PrintrBot bought in December uses rubber tubes on which Dremel type sandpaper drums are glued.
Was also thinking about the backlash while in my car. But what if the fishing line instead of doing loops around would travel through the plastic tube similar as my poor image above?
I guess I will have to try.
Basically I would like to get rid of the sand paper which eats through the fishing line as some point, while not going the full was and make the rubber timing belt mods.
Just belt mod it. Its proven.
@Nigel_Dickinson There are many variations of the belt mod, anyone you recomment or have tried ?
@Andre_Courchesne1 I’m printing a couple off over the weekend. And see which works best as I want a bigger print bed area. But there’s several on thingiverse.
