Improvements to many things, and a new workflow for creating multi-extruder-capable objects.

[Win32] [Win64] [OS X]

  • Generate Complex tool to create a Complex from face groups
  • Split Complex decomposes a Complex into separate solid shells
  • new Export mode that automatically decomposes Complex on write
  • new Align to Target tool to automatically align meshes in 3D
  • new Unwrap tool flattens surface patches
  • new SVG Export can export meshes as SVG (edges, colors, etc). Try it with Unwrap!
  • new Mesh Query tool for visualizing mesh properties
  • new measurement-based scene scaling workflow in Units/Dimensions tool
  • new Select Intersecting action in Select tool (double-click on other scene objects)
  • new Preserve Group Borders and Project To Target options in Smooth Boundary
  • Remesh can now automatically preserve sharp edges

Do you think it will be possible to run the new version alongside the old? This would allow the legacy instructional users to learn the old before advancing into the unknown.

Will there be additional videos available for the KS crowd to cover the new stuff?

I think the installer installs over the old version, though I am not an expert at such things. You can disable the “update” check function so that the old version does not constantly remind people to upgrade to the new version if you want people to be happy where they are for the moment.

And yes, we will work on a new set of videos for these functions, as well as a public video for everyone to see that goes briefly over the new features.

If you are on the Kickstarter webinar list, we will be going over the new version this coming Monday at 2pm Pacific.

I hope its gotten better. Usually slow and clunky. Really they should opensource it so the community can whip it into shape.

Hmmm…maybe it’s your system? We use Meshmixer almost daily to work on meshes that come from our Artec Spider scanner, and have no problem at 2M polygons totally fluidly…have even been able to work on a 10M polygon model (although THAT one was kind of slow).
