Woot - Just ordered my OX kit from http://smw3d.com

Congrats on the kit! I sourced all of the parts myself. I told Brandon that I wish I had known he had a kit. I would have just bought the kit from him. He’s awesome to work with.

Edit: Post pics of your build!

I will. I did an unboxing of my MM3 http://blog.davehylands.com/2014/12/mendelmax-3-unboxing.html and expect to do something similar for the OX.

Nice unboxing! I can’t wait to see the OX unboxing.

We really look forward to this as well! We spend an extreme amount of time packaging steps and providing the best and most optimized protection we can. It will be nice to see how it fairs over international boarders, never had any complaints but never see any pictures of what it looks like after surviving the UPS man…

I do recall being told in no uncertain terms recently that the OX ‘is not a kit’…

Or have you remedied all the engineering gotcha’s?

Hey @Mike_Thornbury which engineering gotchas are you referring too?

I know you had an issue with the motor bolts, couldn’t quiet figure that one out as I can reach my bolts. But tried to assist by explaining the X belt tensioning can performed via the Y plate opening.

Sorry if you expanded, don’t get to get on here as often as I would like.

There are a few booger-boos with the OX. Many people expand their gantries too far and the dual 20x60s will cause excessive deflection if you run beyond 750mm and mount a big spindle or Nema 23 for the Z, but I never suggest either. In fact suggest adding four additional wheels across the top to assist in weight distribution. But that’s just the mechanical engineer coming out in me.

Our little OX has about 500 hours on it now and could not be happier with this contribution Mark gave to us makers.

That’s the reason I created this group though, to expand and make this the best DIY CNC out there.

I think you had built one as well, how’s it working for you? Comments, suggestions? If I remember correctly shipping was a booger for you but think you got it together finally.

I didn’t come up with the original design but happy to constantly contribute my education and experience to evolve something we can all enjoy.

Let me know if you have some contributions from your experience, we can all learn!

There’s a whole thread on them Brandon - or are you saying you haven’t found any?

Oh wait - you replied to at least one of them… short-term memory lapse?

Relax +Mike, Dave seems to be quite happy to tinker (like myself) so what you consider ‘gotchas’ will probably be more of a fun little challenge for the like of us

@Michel_Pollet My thoughts exactly
