Work in progress... An oversized Mendel90 with 338 x 220 x 254mm print volume

Work in progress… An oversized Mendel90 with 338 x 220 x 254mm print volume with heated bed. Frame made out of a 2x4’ 3/4" thick MDF. The stays are purposely 2 feet tall so I can use it to mount spools of filament. Painted with black polyurethane. I absolutely love this design. Can’t beat it’s simplicity.

M10 or M12 rod?

M10 rods.

I’m using 12mm smooth rods and 5/16 threaded rod it’s a 12x12x9 mendel90/prusa i3 hybrid. I liked the vertical x

Watch the y motor mine gets pretty warm. Had to replace the pla bracket with abs because it warped

Hmm, I highly doubt I will have that problem. I have some high torque 2A 47mm motors. I think I am current limiting them. So they don’t run at max torque. They are OSM 17HS19-2004S or OSM N1728S87. Those two models are exactly the same.but one is rebadged by alltronics. They are excellent motors and I’ve ran them for 12+ hours straight at 100mm/s on my prusa and they were barely luke warm at most. On a like a 1 hour print, it feels basically cold the whole time. I never understood anyone who needs heatsink because of these motors. I am sure smaller motors will have heat issues.

I’ll let you know how the y bracket goes since mine is PLA and we have all the same parts.

Looking good, hoping to start building my first Mendel 90. Keep us updated on your progress.
