Work in progress :   "custom Kossel maxi" aka "Sardaukar".

Work in progress :

“custom Kossel maxi” aka “Sardaukar”.

main goal: silence and big print area

2020 frame
+/- 250mm³ print area
magnetic ball joint
vibration damper on motors(cork) and frame(flex foot)

I’m searching a way to reduce the fan noise, any idea other than reduce the pwm/speed ?

Do you expect the performance of a rock-stock style to be better than that of the reprap style? I have seen several of these being built, but was not sure of why they are becoming so popular?

I dunno. my only experience in XYZ reprap, is with a K8200 (or 3DRAG).

I can’t print at the same speed with my k8200 as with my custom 3dr Simple.

The quality of the K8200 is better: but i don’t know if it is due to the architecture or the bad quality of component used to construct the 3DR simple.

So i try a delta with better component (ie real rigid 2020 and not cheap alloy square, magnetic joint to remove backlash, etc)

another think is that delta printer use far less space on desk: my 3DR simple can print a clylinder of 170mm for 1/4 of the space of the K8200 (print size 190x190x200). the “Sardaukar” will probably print 250 by 250 cylinder for almost 1/2 of the K8200 space.

but most of all delta printer are cool  i’m fascinated by they movement.

but don’t mistake me, the 3DR simple print well : here is a exemple of terminators of 20mm height
