Would anyone be interested in buying a $4 4 inch 3D print of part of their Minecraft world?
What if it’s just 4 in of overhangs?
Normally, overhangs would be miniature. But even if not, I would either modify it a bit or in extreme cases add supports. Usually, I hate supports, but I think it’s time I got over it
if you could pull the stuff out of Pocket edition I would happily pay that.
challenge accepted Yeah, that would be difficult, though
@Nicholas_ScarabCoder I haven’t figured out how to do it yet. I can’t get my head around the NBT (or whatever it is) file format. There is a tool MineView that can open and display the files, so it can be done.
I have 2 spots in one of my pocket games I would want printed. And then I would need to get something for my oldest 2 kids. So that is $16 right there, right?
Yeah. Aside from writing your own program, I don’t think it is possible. Plus, I don’t think there would be much demand for Pocket Edition. Though, with the release of Minecraft: Windows 10 edition, it would be a lot easier to get to the worlds; Windows 10 edition is Pocket Edition ported to the computer (same code, even)
Well, I’ll try. The print above is actually only about 50 cents worth of plastic, it surprisingly cheap (compared to the prices on Shapeways, which would be about $20 for the same print). I am mostly just trying to see how it would be to sell 3D prints, so that when I actually sell more expensive things I will have some experience.
But yeah, I’ll try getting worlds from Pocked Edition. It might actually take some manual work
Whaddya know, Mineways (what I use to convert worlds to models) actually supports Pocket Edition worlds! Also, if you have Windows 10, you can port your Pocket Edition worlds to Minecraft Windows 10 Edition.
Are the worlds on iOS or Android?
cura has a tool to import worlds from mine craft
That’s true, but it doesn’t have many options. Plus, it doesn’t work with Pocket Edition worlds
@Nicholas_ScarabCoder there is a program to convert worlds
From Pocket Edition to PC, or from PC to models?
@Mike_Creuzer Okay, I was able to copy worlds from Pocket Edition and turn it into a model; contact me through my form on my website so I can get your email and you can send me the world: http://www.scarabcoder.com/contact
You sure you typed your email correctly? You did scarabcoder.com@
That is the right email address!
The print pictured is 40x80 minecraft blocks roughly or twice that?
I’d say easily twice that. You can see the approximate size of the block each block when each grass block goes up once. Also, the more area printed, the less you will be able to see the individual blocks. I resize it all to the same scale each time, so printing just a house would be the same size as printing a huge forest, but you could see the individual blocks on the house but not on the forest.
