Would anyone that has access to a 3D scanner be able to do some

Would anyone that has access to a 3D scanner be able to do some scans for me? I’m looking at making my own computer mouse based off the Logitech MX Master and want have a model made up of that mouse.

What kind of problems are you having with it?

I’m in West Lafayette so not particularly unfortunately.

Sounds like a challenge for sure. I’ve always wanted to design my own scanner. The software just isn’t there though.

I was thinking of making my own using an xbox 360 kinect

@Cristian_Martinez i was too, there is a freeware for the software. My school uses it and we get around 5000 polygon count. Not great but its good for low detail. We scaned a friend’s of mine head and it turned out fabulous, after some adjustments on inventor/solidworks

You adjusted his head… or the scan? :slight_smile:

@allanGEE he stood on a platform with wheels and we slowly spun him around. We are currently trying to get a higher polygon count and get the scanner a fixed arm if you know what i mean

I was thinking of making the kinect spin around the person as the person sits still. Probably easier to get the scan this way right? Because the person wont move as much?

@Cristian_Martinez ya thats true

I’ve just dug out our xbox Kinect v2 and opened it up, new usb lead ordered just now for delivery tomorrow. I’ve go no idea what I’m doing but this post made me think I need a scanner and I should just go for it. Is there any software for Mac that I could use or will I need to use my Windows pc?

@Andy_Shilling Not to sure bout mac, but u can search up in google: “how to make a 3d scanner out of xbox kinect” and there are many instuctions on how to do it

@Matthew_Del_Rosso thank you but I have found that Scanect works with Mac so hopefully I will be up and running tomorrow making mini me’s.

Good luck

Lol mini me’s
