WOW Innovations SparkMaker SLA printer.
This is my backer reward. I’ll break the ice with a quick whip through. At this price point I am concerned it will be bad but here’s hoping.
Excited to see the resolution increase over my Lulzbot Taz 6 which replaced my Invent-a-Part Rigidbot (Kickstarter reward) after the heated bed cable caught fire and burned my study down and smoke damaged my entire house (a post for another time).
Printer setup is literally just plug in. My power pack worked fine but the kettle lead that came with it did not. I’ve just borrowed my solder station one for now.
The z axis is a 1/128 micro stepping stepper motor on what is seemingly a proper leadscrew and a linear rail with mount rather than bearing. This gives me confidence in the accuracy of the system in the dimension at least. The stepper and leadscrew are joined by the typical joiner. However look in front of the mechanical join there is a tab or switch. I wonder what that could be (nothing in the literature) but for now I am not touching it.
Something to note from instructions to reality. The SD card (not supplied also must be 32GB or less) is inserted upside down not face up as described in the instructions.
Physical stuff done, now we have the software.
Firmware upgrade is as easy as it says on the tin. Put the file on card and insert while machine is off. Turn on machine. Purple then green when done.
The slicing software so far has failed to produce a file to print. Using various files from a cube to sylvannas model when asked to slice it states “Unable to load test”. The auto generated support algorithm is not great but they do warn you of that.
In summary: Hardware good. Software bad.
Disappointment: no USB connection availabl.
