Wow just found a new filament source in Montreal: http://creatorfuel.com/
http://creatorfuel.com
Wait. Free 5 meter sample and $23.00 to ship to the Unites States? No thanks!
@bcrazycramer yeah cross border sucks. But I am in Canada and at 20$/kg + 7$ shipping it’s a bargin !
Buying filament from the US from Canada is hell expensive with the shipping and taxes.
I was gonna get the sample for the heck of it but $30 shipping to the US for 5 meters of filament??? That’s not right.
I buy all my PLA and ABS from the Microcenter near me. As long as you buy the toner plastics brand you should be good to go. And it’s $17 a kg. I haven’t heard a single pop in their filament and it smells like sweet old pure PLA
@Griffin_Paquette Unfortunately no Microcenter in Canada/Quebec. And 17$USD is almost 22$CDN so it’s pretty equivalent.
Cross border shipping (not counting duties) is expensive so as you I try to buy as much as I can from my side of the border.
@Andre_Courchesne1 that is true. I love how good PLA is getting less expensive. But for the people in the U.S. I think that is the best deal.
Keep us posted on the quality of the filaments!!
@bcrazycramer and @Griffin_Paquette Welcome to our world - we’re usually the ones getting screwed on shipping, here in Canada. Mind you, it’s still no bargain here - $13 shipping for the “free” sample to AB? No thanks. Dunno why they can’t just whack it in an envelope and post it for a buck - I don’t need “express”.
@Patrick_Ryan Indeed 13$ for free samples is expensive. They should follow Samtec model https://www.samtec.com/free-sample.aspx and just limit it to 1 sample per physical address or something like that.
For those of you in the US, these guys have pretty decent prices:
http://www.mcmelectronics.com/browse/Spooled-Print-Filament/0000002295
Ordered from them once, but the shipping and duties just killed the good price for me.
They’ve been open for 4 months, are located in the metropolis of the French-speaking province of Canada, yet their website is only in English. Pass.
@Andre_Courchesne1
It have voxelfaxtory for plastic in Montreal
I buy 4 spools in
http://creatorfuel.com
The Quality is good but have only 5colors
@Denis_Seguin You bought from Voxel also. Excellent service and filament, but they tend to be out of stock often on ‘cheap’ PLA.
@Andre_Courchesne1 , check this company, it have a lot of different king of material,
@Denis_Seguin Checked them out a few times, but they always have zero stock on 1.75mm PLA…
@Denis_Seguin Also at 29.95$CAD + 16.05$CAD shipping they are quite exepensive.
@Andre_Courchesne1 if you buy 5 spool, more 125$ is free shipping
James from Creator Fuel here. Thanks for all the feedback people. Shipping rates are indeed our weak spot right now.
Our priority is getting the United States rate down. There will be an updated US shipping price by the end of the month.
@Normand_Chamberland , la traduction du site est en cours!
@James_Hudon I’ll for sure try your filament on my next order.
