X and Y axis bearing inserts for the G-Rap Jr. (Printrbot Starter Kit 8mm).

X and Y axis bearing inserts for the G-Rap Jr. (Printrbot Starter Kit 8mm). After many many tests and revisions, the two pieces are finally fitting without the slightest movements. The X axis bearings are held in by the screws that also mount them to the extruder assembly and the Y are held in by the two walks. Because the printrboard is 61mm wide, I had to add a little bit where the bearings can’t slide into. Seems to be working fine but the true test will come when I try to print it.

Nice touch, adding labels to the parts themselves. I had a question about the new 8mm kit—do the wood pieces change any? I’m trying to decide whether to go ahead and cut out the wood base parts from the earlier design, but obviously I shouldn’t if they are going to be revised in the new design.

@Robert_Wales thanks! I’m just trying to make it as easy to build as possible.

And yes the 8mm version has completely different wood files. I did some serious reworking to add rigidity and make it more refined. With that the laser cut panels are now smaller and therefore more stiff.

I’m buttoning up the final touches this week and then @Brook_Drumm and I will be putting it through some testing. I would say the files for the 8mm version will be out within the next couple weeks.

Understood. Also, a reminder that I volunteered to be on alpha (over on thingiverse), so if you want another tester, I’m happy to get in there with the understanding that it’s still work-in-progress. But also willing to wait if that’s easier for you; no pressure :-).

@Robert_Wales sorry for the late reply. But I’m totally fine letting you test the alpha version. We are just going to get one working and make sure everything is alright first. But when it is good you will be the first to know. I do want people testing it but I don’t want to release any bad files. It should be very soon:-)

Perfect with me. Looking forward to it!

@Robert_Wales what printer do you have? Would you mind printing a prerelease part to test fitment? It works on mine but I want a second opinion

I have the Dremel Idea Builder with some build plate mods. Happy to do it. Ready whenever you want to start.

Ok cool! If you have your kit in that would be best case so you could try the bearing fitment but if not no big deal. Shoot me an email at g t 2 f a n (at) gmail. com. I’ll send you the file so you can test it @Robert_Wales

Hmm. Just tried the email you provided and got a bounceback (but maybe I decoded incorrectly). Can you mail me the part at rbwales (at) http://gmail.com and we’ll try it that way?

Yeah sounds good!! When I get back to my laptop I’ll send it

Just sent you an email @Robert_Wales
