Hi all

My beta stepper motor will only rotate in one direction have checked all wires and connectors updated firmware and config anyone any ideas.

Hi !

Stepper rotating only in one direction is usually a clear sign of only 3 of the 4 stepper motor wires having a good connection to the stepper motor driver.
Can you check your cables and your connector and it’s crimping ?

I tried the alpha motor which works in both directions on the beta driver still the same in printrun y+ button motor turns cw y- button motor still turns cw also the same in repetier I have checked pin to board connection thats fine too.

Hi

Found the problem 2 of the pins on the beta driver chip are soldered together the ones closest to the smoothie name screen-print.

If you have a fine soldering iron, it’s quite easy to fix.
Do you feel up to that ?
depending on how thick it is, an exacto knife would also do the trick, if you are super careful.

I removed the solder but still the same problem I think the chip is damaged so I will desolder it and replace, just one of those things that happen in manufacturing
