Yay! I finally installed my new E3D hotend in my Mendel90. It was a snug fit, but it prints like a dream… Especially with this new flexible filament that I’ve been experimenting with.
What’s your frame material? And that filament holder?
Where we can buy this new material ?
Do you use the default mendel90 wade extruder? the e3d should be ready for direct drive if you have the 1.75mm version?!
Frame is Dibond, The filament holder is something that I designed for Taulman spools.
@Damien_Venturin The flexible material is not available yet. I’ve been testing this for an acquaintance. He is almost ready to sell it publically. It has really great mechanical properties.
@Helmi , Yes, I’m using the default Mendel90 extruder it’s 3.0mm and working well with E3D.
@Damien_Venturin I just noticed that they have gone public. Here is the link: http://www.fennerdrives.com/ninjaflex3dprinting/_/3d//
It’s amazingly flexible and easy to print on my Mendel90. It sticks great to room temperature glass, but is easily peeled off by hand when complete. I’ll try to post a video showing it’s flexibility.
Nice! Good to know you got flexi-stuff through the hotend. - I was always reasonably confident around the 3mm flexi.
Whats the shore hardness of that ninja-flex stuff?
I’ve some Shore 40D from http://www.plastic2print.com/ in 1.75mm. I’ve yet to try it, but it’s as soft as that plastic-lace type stuff that people make bracelets out of, i’m unsure if it will make it more than 5mm past the hobbed bolt without buckling into a knot! But i’ll try and report back.
