Yea, my replacement spindle arrived.

Yea, my replacement spindle arrived.
#TravelCNC should be up and running again in a week.
(I broke it)

What happened?

spindle driver fried when the spindle got blocked. Was only doing 100%.
Then I replaced the fried component and broke it completely. Now I have a new spindle with a much smaller and neater electronics.
(no more 5Kg transformer to carry around)

Hah. Which spindle did you decide to go with?

300W 48V replacing a 230W 36V spindle.
I already have a strong 48V supply for the steppers but for the moment I’ll keep a separate supply for the spindle until I’m convinced that electrical noise is no issue when I connect them.
Keep in mind that the priority are noise and portability.
Somewhat unconventional metrics for a CNC.
For speed and strength I have the large, stationary CNC.

I’m still waiting for

the current 4th axis is no good.
They used the wrong type of timing belt and a stepper that wasn’t up to the job of moving and holding thin air, let alone wood.

Thanks for the info. Let us know what you think about those parts that you are getting.

What was shipping time on the spindle kit? To Germany I assume…

40eur, so it was a total of 115eur.
