Yesterday I asked about how much PLA to retract. Here’s the hot end I’m cobbling together with surplus stuff.
We can’t tell you because we don’t have experience with your hot-end. Is the threaded section Stainless or some other material? heat breaks are special things and an absolute requirement…and PLA swells if not properly managed.
Have you tried it with ABS?
Don’t have any ABS. The threaded rod is steel, I believe the union is brass. From the plug that comes out, I wonder if there’s a gap between the two.
Carbon steel is roughly 4 times more thermally conductive than stainless. I’ve made a few failed extruders, there’s a reason the all-metal guys use stainless and the others use PEEK.
