That is the magical incantation for machining. Now you can calculate what you should do in order to machine a variety of jobs. You still need to fine tune processes though through observation. Those formulas still offer a lot of insight into the process that is useful. I’m sure you’ll figure it out.
Also, the formulas gives information about what factors play a role in the perfect milling job.

As you work with them practically you will gain a wider appreciation for the formulas. They are universally applicable for doing machine work. You can calculate the surface speeds of your grinders, sanders, and band saws among other things. I’ve even used it to figure out the surface speed of different worm drive circular saws. Then I realized that the 8.25 has more than just depth of cut going for it.
