You guys ever used plasti-dip or any other dips or coatings on your prints?
I have used plastidip a handful of times. Works ok with higher resolution prints. Lots of people prime and then paint. I’ve never tried that but it seems to work well for lots of people.
@Griffin_Paquette Thanks! I need a good tough coating for a socket case that I’m designing. I figured it would either melt it somehow or stick and make a solid coating. I’ll play with it and see what happens.
No problem!! I’m very happy with how well plastidip has worked on all plastics. I’ve only tried it with pla in terms of printed pieces but as far as I can see there are no issues.
PlastiDip works well on ABS and PLA
No people use XTC 3D
I use spray on filler. Easier to work with then XT3D. Never used Plasti-Dip. I’m not even sure you can get it in Europe or that it’s safe enough to be sold here.
My use for PlastiDip wasn’t to smooth out prints though, it was to increase adhesion for the prints to be used as wheels…
It’s actually for an industrial use. I don’t care if the ridges are there, I just want it to hold together and be water tight.
It should be fine then.
