Yup still hate abs,

I find my bed has to be at a minimum of 95 for ABS to stay stuck, any less and it’ll stick initially but mid print it might just pop off, 100 has netted me decent results along with using a brim

ABS is good for better high temperature use, good for roughly 30˚C higher than PETG and more rigid than PETG to boot.

My bed is 110˚C, but I have glass + adhesive + 0.03" PEI sheet on top. I also do a heated enclosure set to 50˚C.

I use abs slurry no unstuck prints yet. Once cooled the pop off.

What is the this

I must be weird. I tried PETG a couple of time and had no luck whats so ever. It did not stick to the bed at all. Had much better luck with ABS.

Still looks like nothing

I love the PETG I’m using now. It’s more “picky” than ABS in terms of getting the settings right (especially temperature) but when it’s right, it’s fantastic; I’m never printing ABS again. @Scott_Calkins I had the same problem with bed sticking, but it all came down to settings and for finer first layers I use blue tape.

It’s quite easy to get PETG printing “OK”, but for the results to be poor. Getting the settings right changes the outcome totally. I did one print and the model came out “chalky”, with layers splitting all over the place. Just 5C higher at the nozzle and the model was completely different.

I also think a lot depends upon the supplier (as with most filaments). It seems PETG also is more open to variation in its qualities.

PETG and Co-Polymers are the way to go it’s about 95% of what I print. Hit the middle ground in the temps and I’ve found I can pretty much nail it within a couple of prints, sometimes first try like @E3D-Online 's Edge, which flows and prints beautifully. ABS sucks foetid donkey dong when it comes to ease of printing, part shrinkage and odor.

@Ax_Smith-Laffin hmm, might have to try some of that edge very black. Mind you, I’m not sure what they mean about PETG not sticking - the stuff I use sticks like something sticky tied to a sticky bun. I guess it’s all down to the individual suppliers again.

@Jon_Gritton - pretty much, I don’t tend to buy too cheap, though. Main brands are Formfutura HDGlass, Extrudr PETG and ColorFabb NGEN & XT

@Ax_Smith-Laffin have you used any of E3D’s (spoolworks) Scaffold? I’m desperate for a decent water soluble support; the PVA I’ve used in the past has been hopeless.

Not as yet, I’ve not got my Y splitter working well enough yet. I’m going to plant a couple of NSTT extruders on the machine with the splitter and see how it fairs.

:frowning:

I have only printed ABS and use 255/120 with hair spray, I have used card board as a chamber and any one is better than none when printing ABS.
