Z probe not triggering in software

Smoothie members,

I’m trying to get a z probe working on my smoothieboard, but have been unsuccessful so far. The probe that I purchased was this lot:

www.ebay(dot)com/itm/10pcs-New-LJ12A3-4-Z-BX-Inductive-Proximity-Sensor-Switch-NPN-DC6-36V-/371031316393?hash=item56633097a9:g:QPwAAOSw7FRWXr2Z

And I’ve wired, and edited the configuration as per the instructions here:

albertlatham(dot)com/post/i3-printer-modifications/adding-auto-bed-leveling/

The probe successfully lights up when it detects metal, but issuing M119 does not trigger in software. This is similar with using either pin 1.22 & 1.23.

What am I missing here? Thanks for any assistance that can be provided.

Thanks for the link. Reading now….

If this link is new to you, you’ve been doing it very very very wrong !

You absolutely need to read the integrability of http://smoothieware.org/3d-printer-guide before you start even touching your board, or you risk damaging your board and machine.

Thanks for the assistance. For the record, I’m not new at all to 3d printing. This is a source-built delta I’m putting together, to make printer #7. It’s just the first with smoothie, and to tell you the truth there are quite a few things I really don’t like about the board at all. (Things like attempting to add a display to it, or requiring external power to go to both the large mosfets and small ones [I understand why this is the case, just saying I don’t quite like it].

All other printers I have that are kits sport Marlin and it’s very simple and intuitive. Granted, it can’t hold a candle to the Smoothie’s “no need” for compiling, and just on-the-fly config editing, that part’s pretty sweet.

As user friendly as the board claimed to be prior to purchasing, I’m just stating an opinion that the other boards are FAR more simpler in terms of firing up all the electronics. Not complaining about smoothie, just stating my own personal opinion.
