Zeroconf DNS Support

The Smoothieware networking module is really awesome and one of the primary reasons I went with it. One fairly small missing feature is Zeroconf DNS, which would allow one to enter smoothieware.local or similar instead of figuring out an IP address. It would ease the plug-and-play network experience and make life a little easier for everyone.

Has anyone done any work on Zeroconf? I couldn’t find anything on google, but there are many forks of Smoothieware and it’s hard to track them all down. I would be interested in giving it a shot, especially if anyone else is interested in having that support.

Hey.

That’s not something that exists anywhere around.
If you want to take a shot at it, your first step should be to post about it in the smoothie-dev mailing list and explain how you intend to implement it.
This helps make sure you don’t implement it in a way that won’t be merged, which can be annoying for everybody.
