Figured I might as well show my progress on the Ingentis also. Waiting on bearing for the 10mm shafts. Trying to figure out how to get the Spectra tight. @Tim_Rastall @ThantiK

Us Deltabot folks use zipties, wrap the spectra around the tie three or four times, then ratchet it up to take up the slack. There’s some dead space under each arm that you can use, dunno if there’s similar space to do so on the Ingentis.

guitar tuners seem the new go to way of tensioning spectra.

I’m going to be trying the guitar-tuner method - we’ll see how it goes. I’d be willing to bet there’s a knot you can tie at the ends of the spectra that would allow you to do the ziptie method that is commonly found on repraps, but I’m not that far yet.

Danger will Robinson. Guitar tuners have not been proven to work yet. Once they are tightened, you won’t be able to adjust shaft alignments. Sublime has a guide for spectra tightening on his Tantillus build guide. http://www.tantillus.org/Build_3.html#cables

AH HAH! I like that method! What kind of knot do you tie in that end? (i.e. best kind of knot for that use?)

Surgeons knot or Palomar knot

Palomar knot looks like the right one, I’ll try it!

@ThantiK There are ‘no bobbin’ xy ends on the youmagine Ingentis Page. I think I fucked up the upload on one of them but you can just mirror the good one. For me they print just fine in abs with supports (Cura, sliced) make sure you have thick perimeters and high infill, they are a high stress part. You’ll need to heat the self aligning bushings up and carefully press it into the ends, otherwise they can crack.

How do you like the Kraken carriage @Sonex128 ?

The narrow side piece that is cut out for the rod doesn’t have the holes for the nuts. I may modify it to fit my hotend, really can’t afford a Kraken right now. @Tim_Rastall

@Sonex128 , Misumi First150 promo if you’re in the states.

That’s how I got the stuff for this build. $16.75 for the extrusion and shafts.

@Sonex128 , great looking build, my MISUMI parts should be arriving today, @MISUMI_USA and @reddit FTW

I’ve gotta call them. The instructions were unclear and obviously I didn’t do enough to kick in the discount…

you just needed to put “First150–Reddit” in the special instructions box. I was a bit nervous until a rep called to confirm and I verified that the first $150 was free. I did “prepaid shipping” but they don’t calculate the shipping until it actually ships, so I still don’t have an idea how much the shipping charge was…

Mine was just over ten pounds and shipping was $16.75. The invoices will not show the discount.

yeah, I talked to the Finance section and it’s $37.15 internally…they’re still working out the details between marketing, ordering and billing for this little stunt. I’m kinda curious to know how popular it was…Mitsumi is normally WAY out of my envelope of financial pain.

The extrusion is cheap but their other parts are crazy expensive. Their stages are THK so they’re good stuff, but way more than you need for an fff printer

I kinda wish I used the $150 off to get parts to built this printer instead of getting parts to fix my other one. All though I did find out that Misumi will cover duty costs to Canada. The parts they have are great though, The sliders I got are made in Japan, no cheap Chinese stuff.
