Hey All, Does this seem slow or normal?

Hey All,

Does this seem slow or normal?

Laserweb3
Light 2500mm/s
Dark 2100mm/s
Min 25/max 40
Travel Moves 1500mm/s
Smoothieboard 3x/k40
Windows 10

Still fumbling my way around.

Also I have to be on my .bat screen for it to engrave with the speed shown. If I click on another window it basically slows to 0 speed. Is this normal?

Any help appreciated.

You would never reach the speeds you are commanding… what happens when you do 200dark and 300 light?

Seems about same speed. Engraved darker.

Can you send me a copy of your config file?

Sure… email address?

Post it on Google drive or another cloud based service and share the link… that way if I miss something @Ariel_Yahni_UniKpty or one of the other people here will catch it

Do you happen to know what firmware you are using?

Also in laser web did you specify laser on off commands to M3 and M5?

Nov 1 or 2nd http://firmware-cnc.bin

Did you by chance use an image that was dithered (made up of alot of tiny little dots)

I tried using them when I first got the smoothie. It would give me invalid command. Havn’t trid them since firmware upgrade.

I’ve tried bmp , png, jpg.

can you post the image of what you are engraving? i will run a test and post a video here of what i am getting when i run the image

@Alex_Krause here is the one i’ve been testing with. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2TmtKs6ubOYS3FMdUVUY3RHSU0

Screenshot with M3/M5 usage
and error:Unsupported command. @Alex_Krause

There is alot of dithering on that image I would suggest taking it into inkscape or corel and tracing the image to a vector and turning it into an SVG (inkscape) or a BMP after a trace in Corel. Also note that when you set your speeds up you will not be able to travel faster than 500mm/s which is in your firmware

I can give that a whirl. Is 500mm/s the norm? Did my config smoothie config look ok? what about these unsupported commands M3/M5?

M3/m5 would slow you down even more than you already are experiencing…

500mm/s is about the max speed a k40 can handle engraving
