I’ve been fiddling with OpenSCAD for a couple of hours… it is really fun and powerful. This is a LM8UU linear bearing that I’ve replicated using the specs found on a popular aliexpress listing.
Is there a common parts library where the code for this bearing may be shared?
I’m a recent OpenSCAD user and I find that Thingiverse is a good place to find others’ work. Toss an OpenSCAD keyword in your placement and others will find it.
Other than the convenience and pride of constructing something of this sort, are there other benefits?
Thanks for the suggestions! @Fred_U I am trying to model a simple h-bot out of standard parts from China and a couple of 3d printed supports, so I picked up openscad.
I see the value of having a collection of commonly available and cheap parts: it would be a great jump start for this kind of projects. Perhaps autodesk 123 would better be suited to the task
I’ll try the same design.
sharing your STL and .scad files on thingiverse does make them widely available, and other sites would certainly accept them, to the benefit of even wider exposure.
The OpenSCAD project maintains a library named MCAD. You should consider contributing your parts there. You would probably need to make your design more generic i.e. fully parametric. LM8UU would just be one instance of the design.
