Just got my igus filament sample. With a screwdriver! These guys know how to touch a maker’s heart.
I got mine yesterday! what are you going to make?
No idea! It’s a neat box, with a screwdriver, a pen and a USB drive in a tiny box with a magnetic lock, and a very small amount of filament Doesn’t seem to be enough there to make anything except maybe a keychain trinket.
Im thinking they were planning for you to make a single bearing. And not screw up
What’s Igus?
@Peter_Parnes What’s Google?
Blush
Is that the tiny little spool in the box under the plastic?
Yes .
Your are Best @igus_Inc sample…me only filament sample whitout any other gadget.
@Brad_Hopper That looks like a picture, and there seems to be an empty room for the spool in the clear plastic above the image.
Mm hmm. Should have used my ironic font
And I should have used my obvious answer font
Igus has great swag. The screwdrivers are Matco.
@Peter_Parnes We’re pretty neat, we make 3D printer filament for motion applications, as well as a huge range of plastic bearings, cable carriers, and flexible cables - all of which you can use in your 3D printer, or on pretty much any other application!
@Mauro_Manco @dstevens_lv glad you like our goodies!!
@igus_Inc is the filament available for purchase yet? We are wanting to do some larger parts at work that the will probably need more filament then the samples provide. Also when its for purchase will the filament be available in 3MM?
If all goes according to plan, full spools of the 1.75 and 3 mm filaments will be available by summer’s end. I will be sure to make a post to let you all know the day it goes into stock!
@igus_Inc It is nice but I’d prefer Igus streamline ordering from the Web with realtime pricing and online checkout. I’ve told Melvin this but the reason I stopped ordering (about 6 months ago) most things from Igus is that some items need to be quoted, even standard item, buy it on the Web then I have to call to pay. I’m using Misumi and other suppliers because buying even $100 worth of product requires a 10 -or 15 min excercise in addtion to the normal purchase process.
Excellent product and excellent service (everyone I’ve dealt with was a pro) but if Igus want to make inroads in the maker community a more streamlined ordering system would be an improvement.
Yes, I’ve called for quotes a few times as well, seems silly to get a receptionist then voicemail then a call back then a pdf file with “$6.00” typed neatly in the center of the page. Definitely get a web store presence even if it’s Amazon.
