Non-moderators/owners only: Has the spam problem gotten better over the past couple of days? It looks like the ‘hold for review’ is working, but I can’t be sure because I always see spam, regardless of it being hidden because of reports or not.

@Fred_U thanks; just caught those. Ugh…it means we have some long-term accounts that are spammers, but we won’t know until they post and get through. We didn’t turn on holding posts for everyone; we just turned it on for new users. We may have to amp it up to everyone for a couple of weeks and then turn it back down to new users only again…I’m trying to avoid that.
@ThantiK , I am unsure if the “new member” that the option mentions is a new G+ member or a new member of the community. I do know that some of the spammers look like they may be compromised accounts. I say that because the accounts used to have family oriented posts, went inactive for months and then looked spammy. I like investigating the spammers from time to time.
I kind of wish we could demote users that did not make any posts to the community yet to restricted which is what the new members are. That goes back to the “not enough tools” argument.
It is much better now. The reality is that one might slip through now and then but way better than the porn posting every hour. Thumbs up to all admins/mods
I never really saw much of it to begin with, must be a timezone thing. Does this now mean every post has to be approved? So if someone posts something while the moderators are all asleep, it could take a day to show up?
@Steve_M it is currently set to only hide posts from new members. When we review those held posts, we have the option to let through just that post or all posts or ban the person or delete the post.
