Not sure if this has been covered but I'm having some weirdness going on

Not sure if this has been covered but I’m having some weirdness going on when trying to run svg jobs. What I have is a svg file with 2 layers in it. The cut layer is simply an outline. The raster contains 2 images and some text. I open laserweb4, and add the document. I expand the svg file and drag the layers to “create multiple”. From there I visit each layer and define what I want to happen. When done I click generate gcode. Each time I execute the gcode, only one element of the svg runs. In other words, generating gcode is not creating the code for all the parts in the “create multiple” job. Am I missing something or doing this wrong? Let me know if this needs a better explanation and I’ll do my best. Thanks

Create multiple will only asign a operation to each, you still need to select each and apply setting.
Post a screenshot to better see if that’s no the case

resulting gcode

Ariel, I did select each and assign an operation to each one. +Peter van der Walt, I’m not sure what you mean. Can you elaborate?

I can’t see something wrong. What Peter says I’d that you drag individually those instead of using create multiple. If you post the file once I get home I can take a look

Here is a link to the original file. I have multiple versions now of different attempts. Maybe a tutorial on preparing files using inkscape would be in order now? I think this is where I’m going wrong as well. I’m fairly used to using Gimp, CAD software and Corel but Inkscape is a different animal. So far, I can successfully create gcode for the outline (cut) and part of the image (left side only) to raster. I’m sure there’s something in Inkscape that I’m missing that pertains to what Peter mentioned.

Why using Inkscape then?

Well, I thought it would be an easy way to create a project with multiple layers (to define the project) and pull into Laserweb. Thought process is that I can have multiple cutting options defined by layers as well as multiple raster options defined by layers. Because laserweb can recognize these layers I would be able to create a pretty elaborate laser job in one fail swoop with a nice graphic processor (inkscape) behind it all. I can’t think of a good way to use say Autocad to cover both cut and raster jobs.

It’s ok, inskcape is fine so it’s corel

I’m really trying to learn enough to have a solid process down. I do a lot of designing in autodesk inventor. From there it’s easy enough to export to a dxf file. In this case I want to add graphics to the dxf. I can’t do that in inventor and I noticed a lot of users use inkscape. So this is my attempt to be on the same page as everyone else lol.

It’s ok, you try many and then stick with what you feel better. I also use different apps depending on the complexity of the project

instead of laser raster did you try laser fill path? that was the method shown on the 2hr video for the engraving function IIRC.

@Domm434 laser fill path is only for vector filled paths

I’ll go watch it again @Domm434 . I believe it’s around 1:22 but maybe over looked that part.

@Chuck_Comito dont need to, the file has some issues, im checking

@Ariel_Yahni_UniKpty , thanks for looking. Maybe it’d be possible for you to send me a properly formatted file so I can use it as a reference? Maybe the one you used in the webinar??

I’m fixing yours, lots of issues while making the file.

@Chuck_Comito I just had a look at your file & tested in LW4 also (although I used the web hosted version still as I haven’t installed yet).

I see that when it imports some vector traces of the two baseball images are also imported. Did you notice this too @Ariel_Yahni_UniKpty ? I removed these in LW.

Also, the text for the image would need to be done as Laser Fill Path (since it is a vector). I could get it to generate gcode for the Engrave Left Image, Text, & Cut line. It wouldn’t do for the Engrave Right Image for some strange reason.

Just an idea, which may work, is to combine all BMP images into the one image?

@Chuck_Comito You gave me a run for my money
