This is how my Printrbot Metal Plus is printing…

See, better and better as the day goes on, in a couple days you’ll be printing like an expert!

It’s not easy to tell from the video (getting some light on the front of the print would help) but it looks like it might be over-extruding. Have you calibrated your E steps yet?

@Bruce_Lunde
Thanks Bruve! with the 3d printing community sure will be! :wink:

@John_Davis
Bro to be honest… I now very little about the steps and stuff like that, I was expecting something more like plug and play… But thats not the case with these printers…

It’s not printing solid… I’ll upload better video to youtube…

If you patiently work your way through this guide, not only will you learn a lot, but your prints will improve tremendously.

@John_Davis
let me check it out John… Thanks! :slight_smile:

@Brigham_Valdez Yo Bri! I don’t know how to print… I just want a printer where I don’t have to be troubleshooting constantly… to be hones, all I do is small flight control cases and quadcopter prototypes… I don’t want to become an expert at 3d printing… I just need something that will do what i want with out so much headache.

@Brigham_Valdez yep! I lowered the temperature to 200C but now there’s something weird going on… it starts printing the cube but a minute later it scales down to a smaller cube, mid way it’s just printing in a line on X… I mess around with the extruder height but i don’t think that is causing the scale issue…

@Brigham_Valdez can’r be that complicated tho… I built a shapeoko CNC a couple months ago, and within a week I was cutting my copter frames… lol

@Brigham_Valdez i’m gonna be honest with u Bro… i don’t think I want to go through this… I have many things to worry about (I run two small businesses), and i feel this will consume a lot of my time and keep me from doing other things… Thanks for the offer Bro!! :slight_smile:

@Brigham_Valdez How about if we try tomorrow? I’ve been trying to make this thing work most of the day… I’m frustrated and tired… lol

@Brigham_Valdez I sent u an email with my info, but it came back as it doesn’t exist…

@Brigham_Valdez this is my email: javier@guerrilladrone.com

@Brigham_Valdez I don’t mind paying for your help… but I would hate to have to… because this is a new printer… but it’s not your fault tho… haha we’ll work something out… :wink: Thanks! talk to u tomorrow…

Can you show a video with the top of the extruder (where the filament is feeding through) also zooming in on where the filament is being placed with decent lighting?

Such a video will have good information for debugging. From the look of it, your filament is not coming out smooth. This can be checked in the following manner:

  1. home your X and Y and Z axis.
  2. move Z up to 50
  3. Extrude 50 to 200mm.

The filament should come out smoothly and continuously. The filament might bunch up but after enough extrusion, it should drops to the bed.

Is this what you observe? If not, let us know + the video recorded in the manner I suggested above will get us started on more debugging. I assume you are in touch with Printrbot Support for potentially more help as well?

Nothing is as annoying as having a toy that doesn’t work. Hang tight, we are going to get you printing that drone in no time :wink:

@javierymirna from what you write, you want #Shapeways or similar, not a 3d printer.

@Dat_Chu yo Dat! I did record some good video with light, but when trying to upload to G+ it comes out chopped… I’ll have to upload to YouTube and then post here.

I did played with the sensor calibration, I think that’s not a big deal, what really worries me is that the cube starts at the proper size, but then, it goes to a 3d of the size of the cube ignoring one side completely, within a minute is just printing one third of the cube…

I’ll show you on the video, I haven’t been able to make one cube successfully…

Thanks!

Ok, let me know the YouTube link when you got it. I will head to bed now though so I will look at it tomorrow morning. Don’t worry your 3d printing days and nights are coming (soon).

@Dat_Chu thanks man!
