With all humbleness: This is (at least for me) the best animation I´ve ever created.

What is it? Basically a permanent video crossfade between 2 different mandala animations. If one of them is temporarily unvisible that one gets a new random parameter set. So it appears all very smooth while constantly changing.
I also applied @Mark_Kriegsman s great palette crossfading - everything is permanently recolored by new random palettes.

To be honest: I´m afraid to combine that with MSGEQ7 data. What will I do after? Find a new hobby? I don´t know.

You find there any animation I showed here except this very last one… the code is still a mess and needs a reconstruction before publishing.

Absolutely mesmerizing, and just plain beautiful.

That is cracking, @Stefan_Petrick What a great animation. Wonderful job.

Maybe for the end of the year you should now put together something like a two-minute “Evolution” video showing the animations you made when you started this year, and ending with the ones you’re making now!

+1 to that idea @Mark_Kriegsman . That would be very interesting to see.

Fantastic job Stefan! I look forward to seeing the code for this.

I´m curious, if I will find the time and patience to edit an “Evolution” video this year. And yes, it is tempting.
For now just a longer version of the same animation with a slighly better video quality: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Y7GFM0yjoc

I like the 45° tilt!

Beautiful Stefan!

Wow, that are a lot of leds. How many exact? And couldn’t be the cheapest mandala

You are quite the FastLED Jedi @Stefan_Petrick You make me afraid of obtaining 16x16 matrix! Seem like one can get quite lost in there… Bravo on this latest iteration.

OK you have pushed me over the edge. 32x32 array ordered!

I still enjoy watching it. So the same animation a little bit faster and at the beginning with an additional palette rotation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXC5PCXHPNo (and nice trippy music by Dominik Eulberg)

Where do you get the 32x32 board? How much? @Ben_Delarre or @Stefan_Petrick

Ask @Pixelmatix for a SmartMatrix set or http://www.adafruit.com/products/2026 and http://www.adafruit.com/product/1902

Yep that’ll work, or there are many similar boards on Aliexpress. Much cheaper, but who knows what you’re getting.

Keep in mind, that these matrices are all multiplexed. So you need a dedicated library to drive your matrix. For the SmartMatrix there exists such a lib written by @Pixelmatix and it works fine together with FastLED.
These leds are no APA102 or WS2812B ones - so check carefully, what you buy!

Yeah, I believe most of the cheap ones on Aliexpress are 1/16th scanning matrices. So the smartmatrix drivers may well work, but I’m waiting on mine to arrive before I can confirm.

How cheap means cheap?
